                  one of the joys of writing a journal is that you can touch some of the hidden chambers and search out the lightening fast thoughts. By reading literature and writing them in the blogs and journals we discover and record our own thought process to reflect upon later. It gives us insight and courage to overcome and deal with life's ordeals. It also gives us an opportunity to discover who you are. As the words form a verbal structure that you recognize as coming from your experience and psychological rumbling, you become more fully aware of the beauty of your unique expression. and you and the world are better for your courage to express what you see and feel. russian annexation of crimea

Russia simply walked over to part of ukraine's territory( in crimea) and simply annexed crimea to be part of russia. Why? Because that region have a sizeable population of russians in the region. what will happen britain claims USA just because we speak english. what happened to diplomatic solutions? Now this action by Russia and putin will shape different conflicts that happening around the world. Now China can say some parts of japan and other parts of southeast asia will be part of china, because it was historically was so. North korea can go and attack south korea and try to annex  the country. America and the western allies simply failed to stop PUTIN away from the shores of ukraine, now it gives other country to think that we are weak and can't do anything.

Take medication the right way

I just came back from emergency room. When my dad called me to emergency room i was so worried. i jumped into my car and straight went to the hospital. and when i was there he told me how he tried to swallow a capsule pill and got stuck in his throat. He told me he tried to drink the capsule with a hot coffee. I can't believe he did that. Whenever you swallow a pill it has to be with some cold water. Thankfully it was nothing major. The doctor told us he didn't see anything in the x ray, my dad probably scar the esophageal  tissue and thats why he is uncomfortable. After four hours in their we left. Whenever you take pill take it with plenty of water.

Holi

Holi Festival: A Celebration of Color

Today is the Holi festival. The festival is widely celebrated holiday in india and indian diaspora around the world. This colorful festival of holi is celebrated on middle of march.The festival has an ancient origin and celebrates the triumph of good over bad.The colorful festival bridges the social gap and renew sweet relationships. On this day people hug and wish each other " Happy Holi". 

Investing

Why should you be investing? There are like two way to make money: one is by working and another one is by having our assets work for us. Everybody loves the idea of saving money ( if we can find anything after paying the bills). But the problem with saving money is that it doesn't grow by itself. you probably going to get some pennies every month from the banks. While if you invest your money you will be able to generate more money from your money.

Cut the costs!!!!

For the last year i been able to cut the cost of living in several aspects of my life. One of the main costs for people my age is the car insurance. I had my insurance with Allstate for 2 and half years, until i made the switch to the geico. i was able to save 350 dollars for six months and when they raised after the first six months i switched back to allstate. And i was paying less than what i was paying previously, and I am wondering why? Being loyal doen't count any more? Before i always thought that sticking with one company will reduce my price overtime, but my experience have shown different story. Now every six months i get quote from most of the car insurance companies and i select the one that suits me better. It never hurts to save money.

Elizabeth bishop's poem called "The fish" parallels our own life. The fish struggle, faces uncertainties, and live life just like us. The fisherman sees his own struggles through the fish. The fish had gone through the visible obstacles just like the fisherman. Because the fisherman sees his own reflection of life in the fish,  he lets the fish go.

Social time recorder

As i am reading more into the book i talked about earlier. I found a way to end my procrastination by recording my day to day activities and eliminating unnecassary things.

Almost at the end of the term

Class will be over in two weeks and so much to study for Pathophysiology and do the assignment for the English class. I love how the quarter system works better than the semester system. You get it done faster and the number of years is reduced. It gives you more time to pursue higher studies, and get the education done faster.

Doc two

i am trying to write for my English essay, but i am getting nowhere. i am thinking of different ideas to write and is getting confused on where to start and end. I guess this what they call it writers block. i wish my writers block started around the end of the essay.

playing sports

Playing sports is one of the best way to burn calories and have fun. I love playing basketball, and i found out that i lose around 550 calories per game for my weight. And usually play around 3 to 4 games when i play. No wonder i get exhausted after losing more than 2000 calories in two hours. Basketball also help develop stronger muscle around your legs and thighs. And all that running around helps improve my stamina, heart and lungs. But the most importantly it helps improve my mind. Basketball is a thinking game, you have to defend and offend. On every move you have to think of how to outsmart your counterpart. Since its a team game you have to predict how your partners going to play and play the game accordingly. whole in all it sharpens our brain and thinking process. Death

Death comes so suddenly that you fail to realize how precious life is. This week i just lost my two aunts to cancer. Both of them were fighting the cancer for some time now. Suddenly when you lose someone you cared about, you look into your own life, and think of what we have offered to this world. I always wonder why we do that? may be we want our footprint to leave behind in this world. At this moment I give my prayers to both of my aunts. Even Though they left this world, their memories still hangs around in this world.

Reading

Right now i started reading a book called "the success system that never fails" by clement stone. I am interested in books written by people who succeeded in their business and life. it gives me an insight to how they faced their challenges.I always loved the idea of owning by own business, but every single one of us know the challenges that comes with it. why should we read books? not only it gives us clear thinking and clarity to our thoughts, but also valuable treasures of wisdom that men before us used in their daily life. I will share the secrets of those wisdom in the coming weeks as I read more of it.

                              

what you carry each day

I Can't go anywhere without my Credit card and cellphone. Cellphone more importantly. Its hard to live everyday without cell phone, they help us be in contact with our friends, to find places, to look up menu prices, and as a navigation tools. Credit cards help us pay for our bills even if we don't the money in the bank. How will you live without cell phone and credit card.

Myth

Myth is defined as traditional stories about the exploits of immortal beings.. And such stories collectively is called mythology.  Since the beginning of time our ancestors passed stories and myths to the new generation through orally, and later through literature. All the world religions have morally good myths and stories in their scripture to install morality into their respective societies. As a kid i remember when my mom use to tell stories of different kinds to put me into sleep, i always wanted to hear a bedtime story before i go to sleep. And one of my favorite one is the David vs Goliath, a story from the bible. For me David was a small dude who was able to take on a big bad guy. After she is done with the story i will pretend that i was asleep, and when all the lights are turned off in the house, i will secretly take out my flash light to find a piece of cloth and plastic cricket bat (cricket-a popular sport played in commonwealth countries). I will wear that piece of cloth around my neck like a superman and wave the bat as if its my sword, and i picture myself as David fighting my imaginary foe Goliath. why do we love myth? is it because it gives us a sense of invisibility. we get attracted to mythological characters for their bravery, for what they are able to accomplish, because they have something we desire. They break narrow confines of most men's reality.

follow your bliss

For a good time i had trouble  attending gym on a regular base. all that changed from last week. Now i been attending gym for the last one week 7 days straight. i know its not a big achievement or anything but it was hard bliss for me to follow for a while. i guess the universe have opened its door to give me the motivation to go everyday.

    Psychological criticism often employs three approaches. first, It investigates the creative process of the arts, it focuses on the literature's effects on the reader. The second approach involves the psychological study of particular artist. Most modern literary biographers employ psychology to understand their subject's motivations and behavior. The approach is the analysis of fictional character.

symbol on someone (Tattoos)

          Symbol is something that represent or stands for something else. Symbols often take the form of words, visuals, or gestures that are used to convey ideas and beliefs. My friend have tattoos of many different kinds stamped to his arms and chest to represent his freedom of expression. My friend stamps tattoos on himself to look cool.Tattoos represent a way for people to express their; feelings, to be prideful, freedom, to be rebellious , or just  like my friend to be cool. Tattoos are expensive, they are painful and they are permanent. And after all the effort is put to have a tattoo, a large section of the society find them repulsive. From workplace to court, treatment toward a tattooed person can be prejudiced. They are labeled as criminal, a thug, and uneducated.  People think that tattoos are just a cry for attention,a rebellion against society or a way to hid who we truly are. But in actuality tattoo designs carry a meaning and tell you something about the person's belief or his or her background. They are not scared of public opinion and would love to show what they believe in.

Literary voice

Voice is the distinctive style or manner of expression of an author or of a character in book.Voice is the author's style, the quality that makes his writing. voice is associated with basic vision of the writer. It can be the general attitude of the author's view about the subject he is writing. Voice is the entity that is telling the story.For example in the movie avatar the directors vision about the story is told through the lead character of the movie. characters in the books, movies are medium for the author to write about his point of view, his voice.

Standing up

           A theme presents the main idea of a story, play, or a poem. Sometimes its easy to see the theme of the story, other times we have to conclude or guess what the author is trying to convey. In the story of ursula k guin's " The ones who walk away from omelas" there is no obvious theme that author is trying to convey. It tells us a story, but its upto us to determine those who walked from omelas did the right thing or not. While i applaud the courage of few people of omelas, i condemn their inaction to stand up and change the city for the better. Just like people of omelas there are times when we walk from a particular situation while we could have stand up to the situation.

Health Insurance

 The cost of Health Insurance is major social issue of today's american society. There are so many people who suffers because they don't have insurance. And the Government is trying to introduce Patient protection and affordable care act (PPACA) commonly known as Obamacare. There are arguments for Obamacare and against it. Some People see it as a blessing to those non-insured people, while others argue its an intrusion to their private life by government. What is this obamacare? It gives health insurance access to more than 30 million Americans. It gives businesses and individuals to purchase comprehensive coverage from regulated marketplace, insurer's cannot discriminate against people with Pre-existing conditions, and tax credits small businesses that offer insurance. While those are the pros of the obamacare, there are some downside. If you don't have insurance you will have to pay 95 dollar or 1 percent of your annual income in the first year, whichever is higher, and millions of people could lose their employee sponsored insurance, as they find paying penalty is much more economical than sponsoring a insurance. The pros and cons of the the new law goes on. As a working class person i will be more angry if government takes more tax from me, But at same time i know it will help millions of poor people. Like a Greenpeace activist vs mining companies, it is a clash of interest. Even though i am against government imposing their will on the people, i might just go for this one. Only time will tell us how successful  PPACA or obamacare is for american society.
         

Drunk drving

The cars should come with a technology where it can sense driver's alcohol level and stops the engine. It will be  really helpful to the other drivers on the road. Saturday night a group USF students died when their car collided with another car going the wrong way in an interstate highway. The driver who came in their opposite direction might have been intoxicated to drive like that. Those innocent life can not be brought back, and when all of a sudden you lose someone who is dear to you the whole perspective about life changes. A technology should be invented for the intoxicated drivers to not drive.

Equality

                           Equality by definition is a state being equal. Harrison bergserson story talks about a world where everybody in the world is equal. In my belief we should have equality in terms of right to freedom, liberty and to practice our own religion. For example same sex marriage should be legalized around the world, not because i am for it or against it, its just that individuals should have the liberty to choose how to live their life. But should the same privilege of equality should be applied  to individual's income. If everybody gets the same amount of money, will it be a better world. I don't think so, it takes away incentive to work harder, make new things,and decrease the the competition among companies. If a pharmacist and a pharmacist tech gets paid the same, there will be less incentive for the pharmacist to study seven year program compared to one year program of a tech. There should be a balance on how we apply equality in the society.

Grandma's jam

The story of" jilting of granny weatherall"  made me think of my grandmother and her house, my summer vacation home. My grandmother died when i was 11 years old, three years before i left India. Usually I go to her house on my summer vacations. Her house sits in the middle of different kinds of flowers and fruits trees. It was always pleasant to go to her house just because of all the lush green that surroundes her house.  I use to love to go there for two reasons. Number one reason is that she had lots of fruit trees, my favorite fruit is the small mango with dark spots on them. Those mango trees where big. Me, my cousins, and some of the friends around there use to gather stones and throw at those mangoes or wait for a good wind to blow. If it is a lucky day we are able to fill our baskets with tens of mangoes. we use to eat most of the mangoes right under the tree. And my grandmother use to make jams with the left over mangoes we brought home. I won't say she made it, she just knew the recipe. It was up to me and my cousins to make them, from peeling the mango skin to throwing away the wastes. When every ingredient was ready she use to cook it and made us watch how it is done. I always hated that one hour of tedious work, as it was robbing my precious play time with my friends. But the smell and taste of the mango jam kept me at the kitchen.I remember when my grandma use to yell out " jam is ready" all the cousins and me will run to the kitchen like dogs chasing a car. With a smiling face She gives each one of us four bread pieces and four spoons of jam. Because i used to over put the jam on the first three breads, i usually never made to the fourth bread with the jam. I remember trying to rob my cousin's spoon, and she scolding me for it. Reading this book somehow made me think of my grandma's smiling face,whenever i am not mischievous. Her death seems like a distant memory, but her smile seems to be clear as yesterday to me.  Almost forgot, And the second reason is that she use to give me money when i leave. Nostalgic times!!
           

emily's essay

For our group project we choose " a rose for emily". A rose for emily does not have morally good  protagonist or antagonist. The protagonist of the story emily's character is shaped by circumstances of her life. All of our lives are shaped by how we brought up and the circumstances we are surrounded by. some might see her as a bad person for what she did. but is it entirely her fault? did people who brought her up had anything to do with it? These are questions we can ask ourselves too. Do we see anything in us that we should change in our life, no one is perfect. Emily did not change anything in  her life for the life to be good. Her legacy might be seen as someone who failed in a relationship, with townspeople and in life. what is our legacy? as a people we are able to think, change and stir our life to the direction we want.
